Marc Poulin

Marc Poulin is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Empire Company Limited (TSX:EMP.A) and its wholly-owned subsidiary Sobeys Inc., a leading Canadian grocery retailer and food distributor. He is a member of the Board of Directors Empire Company Limited.

A native of Québec, Mr. Poulin has more than 30-years experience in the food retailing, packaged goods and financial services industries.

Between 1986 and 1996 Mr. Poulin held a variety of progressively senior retail marketing and management roles with Provigo Distribution, Culinar Inc. and Desjardins-Laurentian Life Group.

In 1997 he joined the Oshawa Group as Vice President, Grocery Merchandising and in 2001 was appointed President of Operations, Sobeys Québec. In 2011, he was appointed President, Sobeys IGA Operations, the position he held immediately prior to being named President & Chief Executive Officer of Sobeys Inc. in June 2012. In December 2013, Mr. Poulin also assumed the role of President and Chief Executive Officer of Empire Company Limited, Sobeys Inc.'s parent company.

In 2013 Mr. Poulin was appointed to the Board of Directors of Richelieu Hardware (TSX:RCH), a Québec-based importer and distributor of specialty hardware products. Mr. Poulin is also an active member of his community serving on the Board of Directors for the Montréal Heart Institute Foundation, as a volunteer for the United Way of Greater Montréal and as President of the Québec Chess Federation. He is a past board member of the Montréal Board of Trade and a former participant (1987) in the Governor General's Canadian Leadership Conference. In 2010, he was recognized as one of Québec's top business leaders by Perform Québec.

Mr. Poulin has a Bachelor of Actuarial Science degree from the Université Laval and holds a Masters of Management (Marketing) degree from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.

 

François Vimard, CPA, CA

François Vimard, CPA, CA is the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer of Empire Company Limited and its wholly-owned subsidiary Sobeys Inc., a leading Canadian grocery retailer and food distributor. He provides leadership for the Company's Finance, Information Technology, Distribution & Logistics, Corporate Strategy, Real Estate, and Legal functions.

Mr. Vimard's career at Sobeys began in August 1995 as Director, General Accounting (Québec Region). Two years later he was promoted to Vice President, Finance. In 2000, he became Senior Vice President, Finance and Strategic Planning for Sobeys' operations in Québec. In 2003, Mr. Vimard was appointed Executive Vice President, Supply Chain and Technology. In July 2007, he became Chief Financial Officer for Sobeys Inc. and was appointed to Executive Vice President in October 2011. In February 2014, Mr. Vimard assumed the role of Chief Financial and Administrative Officer for Sobeys Inc. and Empire Company Limited, Sobey Inc.'s parent company.

Mr. Vimard is a Chartered Professional Accountant. He began his career as an auditor for Deloitte, Haskins & Sells in 1983 before joining Provigo Distribution, Inc. in 1985. Over more than eight years he held progressively senior roles in Finance and Supply, eventually assuming the position of Director, Planning and Financial Analysis. From March 1994 to August 1995, Mr. Vimard was Controller (Eastern) for Petro-Canada before joining Sobeys Inc.

Mr. Vimard earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree and Licence in Accounting Sciences from Université Laval. He is a member of the Québec Chartered Accountant Order.

Jason Potter

Jason Potter is President, Multi-Format Operations, for Sobeys Inc., a leading Canadian grocery retailer and food distributor. He is responsible for the Company's Multi-Format Operations business unit, including Sobeys, Thrifty Foods, Sobeys Urban Fresh, Foodland, IGA stores (Western Canada), FreshCo, Needs, Fast Fuel, and Sobeys liquor operations.

Mr. Potter has worked with the company since 1992 in progressively senior operations and merchandising roles. Prior to his appointment as President, Multi-Format Operations, he was President Operations, Sobeys Atlantic Region.

Mr. Potter holds an MBA from Athabasca University.

In May 2009, Mr. Potter was recognized as a recipient of Canada's Top 40 Under 40™ award, which annually honours 40 Canadians under the age of 40 for vision, leadership, innovation, achievement and community involvement.

Claude Tessier, CPA, CA

Claude Tessier, CPA, CA, is President, Sobeys IGA Operations. Sobeys Inc. is a leading Canadian grocery retailer and food distributor. He is responsible for the Company's IGA Operations business unit in Québec, including the IGA, IGA extra, Les Marchés Tradition, Marché Bonichoix and Rachelle-Béry banners.

Mr. Tessier joined Sobeys Inc. in 2003 as Senior Vice President, Finance & Strategic Planning for Sobeys Québec.

Mr. Tessier is a Chartered Professional Accountant. He began his career in 1986 with Coopers & Lybrand (now Price Waterhouse Coopers). Between 1989 and 1994, he held increasingly senior finance roles with Mallette International and Costco Inc. Then joining Provigo Inc. where he served in a number of roles including Vice President, Financial Planning and Vice President, Finance & Treasury. In 1999, Mr. Tessier assumed the role of Chief Financial Officer with Fly Furniture, a role he held until joining Sobeys Inc.

Mr. Tessier holds a Bachelor of Accounting degree from the Université du Québec à Montréal (1986). He has been a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants since 1987.

Simon Gagné

Simon Gagné is Chief Human Resources Officer for Sobeys Inc., a leading Canadian grocery retailer and food distributor.

In his capacity as overall leader of the Company's People, Performance and Development strategy, Mr. Gagné serves as the principal counsel and steward of Sobeys' talent attraction, retention and development initiatives, as well as the organization's succession and career planning, leadership development and people engagement initiatives.

A native of Matane, Québec, Mr. Gagné has close to 30-years experience in food retailing and in private and public transportation. Between 1985 and 1997, Mr. Gagné held a variety of progressively senior management positions with Cabano Transport in both Montréal and Ottawa and with the Montreal Urban Transit system (STM).

In 1997, he joined the Oshawa Group as Director, Employee Relations and in 2000 was appointed Vice President, Human Resources and Internal Communications, Sobeys Quebéc. In 2010, he assumed additional responsibility for the Company's Distribution & Logistics function in Québec.

Mr. Gagné is actively involved in community sports and leisure.

Mr. Gagné has a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's Degree from Laval University.

Chuck Mulvenna

Chuck Mulvenna is President, Safeway Operations, for Sobeys Inc., a leading Canadian grocery retailer and food distributor. He is responsible for the Company's Safeway Operations business which includes 200 retail locations across Western Canada.

Mr. Mulvenna came to Sobeys Inc. in 2013 after the acquisition of Canada Safeway Limited. He has close to 45 years of experience in food retailing, starting his career as a Safeway courtesy clerk in 1969 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Throughout his years with Safeway Inc. he fulfilled a variety of retail leadership roles across the Prairies. Most notably, from 1996 through 2013 Mr. Mulvenna held the positions of Corporate Vice President Retail Operations with Safeway and President and Chief Operating Officer of Canada Safeway Limited.

Mr. Mulvenna holds a Certificate in Management from the University of Manitoba.
